At a recent Board of Education meeting, the Sachem Central School District honored individuals whose dedication, service and actions have left a lasting impact on the school community.

Honoring Our Retirees

The district proudly recognized the careers of over 60 retirees, thanking them for their years of commitment, care and professionalism. These educators, staff and administrators have collectively shaped generations of students and helped make Sachem a place where students can thrive. Each retiree was acknowledged by name and celebrated for their contributions to the district’s success.

Seneca School Nurses Applauded for Life-Saving Action

A special recognition was given to Dianne McDonough and Michelle Kasten, school nurses at Seneca Middle School, for their swift and heroic response to a medical emergency. When a staff member experienced a serious health incident during the school day, the nurses immediately rushed to their side and began administering CPR. Their quick action and professionalism were critical in ensuring the safety and well-being of their colleague, and they were applauded for exemplifying the very best of Sachem’s staff.

The Board of Education extends its heartfelt appreciation to all those recognized and thanks them for their service, compassion and commitment to the Sachem Central School District.

During the month of May, the Seneca Middle School community came together with heart and purpose to support a cause that means a lot to so many, Make-A-Wish. Through a wide range of activities, students worked hard to raise money for the foundation, which brings hope and joy to children facing serious illnesses.

Whether it was selling candy, decorating stars, bidding in school auctions or showing up for fundraising events, Seneca students were all in. Their efforts paid off in a big way – together, they raised $6,695 for Make-A-Wish.

The excitement and pride could be felt throughout the school. It was more than just fundraising – it was about students stepping up, supporting others and showing what’s possible when a community comes together for something meaningful.
