Employee Assistance Program

Since 1983, the BOCES Employee Assistance Program (EAP) has been providing education, intervention, assessment and referral services to the employees, retired employees and their families from numerous school districts and agencies throughout Suffolk & Nassau Counties. The EAP currently services school districts, libraries, agencies and municipalities with over 27,000 employees, retired employees and their extended family members.

If you contact someone it will remain confidential; the district will never know if you contact EAP directly.  Just let them know you are an employee of the Sachem Central School District.

BOCES EAP is a Union/Administration program that is voluntary and neutral. This means that both Union and Management understand the process to help employees that are in need, and together, support services and confidentiality for every employee and/or family member.

The mission of the Employees Assistance Program is to provide support to employees and their families in participating school districts and agencies in an effort to maximize overall wellness and each individual's learning potential.

The EAP provides a very nurturing, caring and supportive environment that emphasizes the idea that having difficulties is universal and that asking for assistance is a strength.

The program is staffed by mental health professionals who are trained to assist individuals experiencing a wide array of difficulties that may be job-related and/or of a personal nature.

Since its inception in 1983, the EAP has assisted employees and their families with over 120 types of presenting problems. This assistance has been provided to both individuals living locally and outside of the Long Island area.

The confidentiality of every individual who uses the program is strictly upheld. The EAP acknowledges the right of all people to obtain quality, professional services in an environment that fosters respect, support and dignity.

The EAP provides services to employees as well as their extended family members, including siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. The program also provides services to retirees of participating school districts and agencies as well as to their extended family members. There is no cost to either the employees or their family members to utilize the EAP services. The EAP is provided as a benefit to the employee and their families by the participating school districts and agencies.
