Tamarac Elementary School

Principal's Message

November 2017

Dear Tamarac Community,

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, our holiday season is upon us.  The months of November and December are an exciting time of year for everyone.  Wonderful field trips have been planned and special programs are being brought in.  The hallways are filled with happiness during this holiday season.

There are many great events planned this November.  We will have our Father’s Club movie day on Saturday, November 18th.  We will be seeing the movie Wonder at the Port Jefferson Cinemas.  Please visit our website for more information.  On November 18th, we also have our 3rd Annual PTA Vendor Fair.  The hours will run from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  There will be plenty of great vendors. It’s a wonderful way to get started on your holiday shopping.  Also, please note that picture retake day is scheduled for November 21.

Please remember that school will be closed on Tuesday, November 7th for Election Day and again on November 10th, in honor of Veteran’s Day.  School will also be closed on Thursday, November 23rd and Friday, November 24th for Thanksgiving.

The weather is beginning to change.  Please be mindful that we will try to go outside for recess as much as possible.  Please make sure our children are dressed appropriately, so they are comfortable for the change in weather.

Please also make sure that students are properly dressed for their specials.  Children need to wear sneakers for physical education.  Without sneakers it would not be safe for them to participate.  This is also in accordance with our district policy.

Kudos goes out to Tamarac Alumni, David Deneen for completing his Eagle Scout Project at Tamarac.  Our students now have two big benches to sit on during recess should they need a spot to sit and rest without sitting on the ground.  David and his scout troop did an amazing job.  We are so proud of him!

On behalf of the Faculty and Staff, we would like to wish all of our Tamarac families a plentiful and happy Thanksgiving.  As a school community, we have so much to be thankful for this year!

Sincerely,

Michael S. Saidens
